This training program took place in Hanoi from October 25th to October 27th, 2023.

The first training session on "Understanding and Growing Readers" featured an expert panel discussion on User Engagement and Development Strategies, led by Mr. Nguyen Quang Dong, Director of the Institute for Policy studies and Media Development (IPS). The panelists for this discussion included Mr. Ngo Duc Kien, Editor-in-Chief of Nghệ An Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Van Ba, Editor-in-Chief of Vietnamnet, and Ms. Dao Thu Ha, Director of the Digital Marketing Department VnEconomy. Given the current challenges in the media industry, where advertising revenue and state budget support are both declining, coupled with decreasing traffic from social media platforms, the panelists agreed that newspapers need to formulate reader-centric strategies and invest in technology to prepare for the digital business landscape.
